Today the activity was about building a persona or character of a person. This could be done through closely observing the set of personal belongings that a person had, as those set of belongings helped us identify the personality or character of the person.
We then had to list down the characteristics of the person that describes his or her personality through those objects such as gender, age, family, occupation, likes and dislikes, personality, recreational interest etc.
WARM UP ACTIVITY
For the warmup we had to observe the set of objects given to us in the picture and list down the characteristics of the person that describe his or her personality through the given object.
We carefully analysed all the objects given to us in the picture and then list down the characteristics of the person who would wear these objects. We ended up finding out the age category of which that person might fall under, the gender, occupation and the personality that the person might have. We also inferred the outside characteristics of that person, for eg: the person would probably have long hair because of the bun pin that one possesses.
MAIN ACTIVITY
We had to do the same thing for the main activity. After stating the outer and the inner traits of the person, we had to sketch a fair version of the person through the traits that we inferred from the objects given to us and showcase the environment for the same. MIRO BOARD LINK .
REFLECTIONS
While doing this activity, I realised how important it is to create a persona before making any product in design.
Creating a user persona gives us an estimate about how many people would fall under the category of the product that one is designing and is a good marketing strategy that one can apply while making any product.
I realised that the deductions that our group made and the final outcome that we had was very close to the person, to whom these objects belonged to.
This also made me realise the importance of analysing the objects carefully, as each and every person has a personal connect with some objects that define or tell us about the traits of that particular person.
