A line is a dot moving through space.Their is an endless variety when one comes to think about line. They can be curved, straight, dotted, horizontal, vertical, diagonal and the list continues.
Line is the most fundamental element of design. It is not just an ordinary straight line but a dot moving through spaces having more length than thickness.Today the activity was based on this very basic yet the most fundamental element known as line.
WARM-UP ACTIVITY
Each group was assigned some words and we were required to express these words through the use of only lines.
MAIN ACTIVITY
For the main activity, we were given a list of visual expressions out of which each member had to choose two expressions. Out of those we had to carry forward one visual expression, which we sketched, and replicate that in 3 D.
REFLECTION
At first it was hard to apply the concept of expressing a word through only lines which had to be either black or white in colour.
Gradually when more words were given to us in the warm-up activity, the application of lines started to improve and I was able to communicate the given word using variety of lines, in a short span of time.
In the main activity, expressing the word was not an issue for me. The problem lied in replicating my visual expression, that I had sketched, and replacing that in 3D.
It took me a lot of time to create a 3D representation as a lot of time was spent thinking about how to replace the 2D with a 3D representation.
There was a lack of time management.
Our group totally supported each other during the whole process. Each and every member gave their opinion on the work that one had done in order to improvise it.
At the end our group was able to achieve the desired outcome and present it in an organised manner.
LEARNING MANTRA OF THE DAY : Somethings might seem basic but dive deep into them and you will see the power they hold.
